Courage: the ability to do something that frightens one.

Stephen and Nick had different things that frightened them.

Nick had courage telling first years students over and over again the principles of evolutionary zoology.

Stephen had courage on their missions, boldly following tracks of dangerous animals.

Nick showed courage in facing the dean, and later Lester, and their ridiculous demands.

Stephen showed courage in being the excellent marksman when needed.

But there was one thing that made them both courageous.

It was a basic task most men on earth loathed.

And that was changing the dirty nappy of their child.
