“Listen.”

“I don’t hear a thing.”

“That’s what I mean. Not a sound. No people talking. No fireworks.”

Stephen and Ryan were standing outside at their rented holiday cottage.

It was midnight, cold and dark.

“Do you want fireworks?” Ryan asked.

“Did you bring some?”

“Of course. Always carry it with me. What do you want? Firecrackers? Bengal lights? Coloured stars?”

“A little bit of everything.”

Ryan kissed Stephen and rubbed his crotch against his lover’s.

“Why don’t we go to the bedroom? Then I’ll show you fireworks.”

“Mmm, sounds good.”

“Happy New Year, Hart.”

“Happy New Year, soldier boy.”
